"Another Morning Without Glory"

Burketown, Queensland - September 2005

Burketown Airfield at dawn with CGC/MGCQ members Al Harford, Bob Gray and Hans Oerlemans as well as Bruce Salter (GCV) providing support to Cairns' Geoff Pratt and his PIK-20E self-launching glider (VH-XOI).

The daily ritual was to be at Burketown Airfield before dawn to be ready to launch at first light with a view to seeking out and surfing any Morning Glory that happened to be moving inland from over the Gulf of Carpentaria on that day. Many mornings passed by before we encountered our first Morning Glory ... the experience however was certainly worth the wait!
