WUC evaluation flight

26-Jan-11

Until today Bert Persson had not flown WUC (the only Schweizer SGS 1-35 outside of USA/Canada) since the late 1980's at Tocumwal where his first flight in her was a 500 kilometer triangle.

Today Bert took her out for a post-Form 2 (and Extension of Service Life Survey) evaluation flight at Caboolture.

Prior to today, WUC had not been flown for some 23 years ... it had been stored in its trailer inside hangars at Tocumwal and Alice Springs.

On the flight line at Caboolture's runway 12 and ready to roll ...

Tony Sorensen does the wing duties ... tow rope slack taken up and tug on full power ...

The following in-air shots of Bert's flight were taken by  Speedy Gonsalves from his K14 ...

Bert's evaluation flight in 'the pocket rocket' today lasted a mere 5 hours 35 minutes.

Bert's assessment of WUC ... "she flies really nicely".
