Optimism Pays Off

Kevin Roden provided the following pics prefaced by this comment ...

Starting with the drive to the airfield on Saturday, we all had to be optimists to end up with several soaring flights ...

And soar they did !!!
  from Andrew Dunn's report ...
After that, we had aircraft available, but no pilots to fly them, must have all given up with the morning rain!   So I managed two flights in CQC with Kevin (Roden) to complete my conversion, complete with a low level rope break "surprise". Wow, that woke me up!  All handled OK though and good practice...and achieved the shortest flight of the day at only 3 min.   Blake (Redsell with Kevin Roden) then disappeared in the motor glider for an hour to practicing outlandings.  We then sat around making conversation for a while until Vince (Everett) decided things were looking better as the blue hole turned into streets and lots of lift.  Exactly 1 hour later he returned commenting that there was some reasonable lift around ..   So I decided to hanger fly CQC for my first solo ... and managed 1 hour 16 min for my first hour flight (in CQC)! Could have easily stayed up longer, but it was after 5 and I figured that those on the ground would be wanting to go home.
