Action Packed Day at YCAB

Garrett Russell's report on CGC's Operations

Sunday 25-Jul-10

Easy to see why there was no gliding at Caboolture this Sunday:

But what are so many gliders doing out of the hangar?

To make room for all the activity inside where the news was all good:

CQC’s accident damage has already been repaired by Bert Persson and Trevor Mills and now only awaits Speedy’s magic finishing touch, just as soon as he finishes his chores ...

Yep, to show how much we value two of our stars of the airworthiness course, Speedy Gonsalves and Kevin Rodda got to celebrate their new endorsements with a bit of brushwork while the rest of Sunday’s hangar rats helped our other Warwick stars get the fruits of their labour out of the rain:

Like the maestro he is, Lindsay Mitchell conducted the movements of Eric Dickeson, Mike Brunt, Mike Grady, Les Behrens, Barry McCarthy (with lovely fiancee Lynette) and me to orchestrate GBJ and GQA back into the hangar. And if you’re wondering about that orange flash in the background, all will be revealed after a brief musical interlude ...

Following a little "tiddily-bum-bum" ...

Kevin’s subtle “new” mount made its first full appearance at YCAB

and was duly squeezed in to "maintenance corner" where work on its first Form 2 in almost 30 years will continue.

Impressed by the pattern of wings in the background? You should be, because we managed to fit five fully rigged gliders plus the tug into the hangar floor space (all freshly washed by a sprinkle of rain and wiped dry by loving hands – especially SPA, Tony!) along with another three gliders positioned for easy maintenance work access, and still have room to spare:

And after all that many of us had still more room ...
... for a midday Big Breakfast at the Aero Club!

Finally, to further show that even a day without flying can be full of fun at CGC, we’ll leave you with a demonstration of another important endorsement Lindsay brought back with him from Warwick ...

Who would ever have thought that the next qualification up from Annual Inspector iss Proctologist?
