No shortage of
experience with this "Competition Flying" panel .... Ingo Renner (four-time
World gliding champion), Bernard Eckey (record glider pilot, author and coach), Bruce
Taylor (nine-time Australian gliding champion) and James Cooper (Western Australia's head
coach) fielded questions from the floor. |
In response to a
question about the role of luck in the winning of National and World gliding competitions,
Ingo commented that he believed that he had been a very lucky pilot .... and that he had
also found that the more he practiced the luckier he became! |
On the topic of what
the GFA could do to foster more World competition successes by Australian glider pilots,
Bernard commented that, with declining glider pilot numbers, there are far more important
issues for the GFA to focus on in terms of ensuring that "people on the fringe"
enjoy and stay in gliding to ensure the ongoing viability of the sport. |
